Still usable latency for software stepping (parallel port) and very usable for Mesa boards as they do not use a Base period.
Try to find another graphic card and test latency again if you plan on using parallel port, Nvidia cards tend to mess up latency.

The difference is probably between RTAI and preempt-rt rarther than between Wheezy and Buster.
It is possible to run Buster and RTAI: linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/getting-start...#cha:Installing-RTAI

Seems quite a jump in the latency test though? I wonder if it would be worth trying the Linuxmint route?
