new installation and mcs9865 pci parallel card was created by 30121963
Hi everybody,
I'm trying a new install from the official ISO to a PC with PCI parallel port to connect one ot those cheap 5 axis breakout board + 1x tb6600 driver and 1x salvage stepper motor.
I guess there is something wrong with the parallel card or its settings: whatever I do, everything looks just dead.
Is such HW configuration, supposed to work out of the box or not?
I'm not even sure my parallel card is suitable so before struggling with port testers and whatever, I would ask you whether that card is known to work properly or not. it would not be a big deal to buy a new 10Euro card, if needed.
otherwise, please give me some hint, where to start from to get a working system...

First thing to try is make the timings longer in the INI file or again using StepConf wizard to edit the existing config, namely :

I used the wizard and entered your parameters (step time,step space, direction hold,direction setup in the wizard).
Once finished, I checked the resulting hal parameters (in bold) but they don't match. I attached here my full hal file.
note:
- only the Y axis motor is connected for now. does it affect the system somehow?
- whatever the configuration, testing the axes in the wizard gives no results.
- my motor is a salvage KP54FP8-755, 7.5 deg/step, 10ohm/phase. should this be the issue here, I'll wait for the NEMA17 I already ordered..
- I suppose all my hardware should run quite out of the box so I can't figure out whats going on..

That is the hal file you attached, that needs to be set in the .INI file.

Nontheless, it looks about right, using "reset" with a reset time of 5000ns.
This is looking like the classic "stepper driver not enabled" thing.
Is the stepper motor locked and not moving, or free to turn and not moving?

- the motor turns free as if it was not connected.
- maybe pointless but whatever the machine power status, I read the same:
Vcc > 12V
ena+, dir+, pul+ > +5V
I wired my motor to X axis.

net xenable => parport.0.pin-17-out
the pin 17 of the breakout board is marked BDIR and is not connected..is that ok?
