How to Install LinuxCNC? was created by xenon-alien
Hello!
Can you tell me how to install the 2.9 version of LCNC?
Because now the master is 2.10

What is new in 2.10?

2.9 and 2.10 are still pretty much the same, 2.9 is separated to be stabilized for release while 2.10 will continue development.

At the moment there are almost no differences between 2.9 and 2.10, but 2.9 is meant to be stabilising (bug fixes mainly) prior to release and 2.10 is open for more risky changes.
The buildbot is not currently making 2.9 .deb packages. I don't really know why, but I have just pushed some changes that might fix that.

What do I need to do, to install 2.9?
Or just use the 2.10?
Where can I post the bugs for 2.9?
We using it for lathe with MESA 7i96s + a turret (tools have offsets). When we run the program receive a message for limit reach for axis, but there is enough space - version 7770, or something like that. May be it was fixed. If needed, tomorrow I can post my configuration and the *.ngc file

I'm not a "super-user" in Linux OS.
For me is the easiest to add a repository and install it. (figured it out, how to use that way with the synaptic)
I do it with the stable LinuxCNC 2.8.4 ISO image still the main was the 2.9 in master, but now it's the 2.10.

Any news to install 2.9 (update 2.8.4 Buster Debian 10 to 2.9) with synaptic repositories?

Yes, there are now 2.9 debs (only for buster) on the buildbot.
Either grab them manually from buildbot.linuxcnc.org/dists or guess the new repository description (almost certainly
deb buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ buster 2.9-rtpreempt

I see it. Synaptic shows 2.9.0~pre1.24.............
All changes are available? (bug fixes) The last I have downloaded was a 7770 (were issues) and a 8*** somethig (was better).
What is the version? Like a 2.9.1 (stable will it be in the future)?
On this week I will try to update the lathe from 7770. I hope it will better.

The digits at the end are the git hash of the most recent commit to that branch. It is possible to work out exactly when in the development process the deb was built, but it is not obvious by inspection.
2.9.0.... is the latest release candidate, it contains all accepted bug fixes but will not include any new features from after about 3 weeks ago.
