The servo motors are all running, and the next step is to debug LinuxCNC and become proficient.

A couple of us are just starting our journey with ethercat
Rtelligent ECT60 and ECT86 drivers and matching closed loop steppers are a good starting point. They have been mentioned in a few threads here.

It untested but I think this IO module might be good value as it has encoder, pwm, analog inputs and outputs all on the one interface

The other I/O alternative would be the Beckhoff gear. They have been very helpful in our country.

I've been trying to document our findings in git here
github.com/rodw-au/linuxcnc-cia402
I think thats a working config and include installation instructions which we found worked. I'm about to try them over the weekend now I have a testbed wired up.

Rod - those ECT60 drivers look interesting.

What cable length did your set come with? (Can't see it mentioned in the listing)

Yes. I had to go and measure it as it was still rolled up. The encoder cables on my NEMA34's that came with my ECT86 drives are about 5 m long
There are three of us now with them and the instructions in our git are evolving rapidly as I got them moving today!

I'm still waiting for a NEMA23 but I am also using an ECT86 driver for it as I can feed them from a 60 volt AC toroid I have on hand

My NEMA23 arrived today. It seems to have a 3.0 m cable but I have not checked in detail.

I saw this sentence "loadrt cia402 count=3" in the HAL file of ECT60. What is puzzled is that the cia402 real-time library cannot be found in the LinuxCNC real-time library; how did you solve it?

Can the detailed operation of ECT60 be made into a video?

If you follow the instructions I included, all will be revealed
github.com/rodw-au/linuxcnc-cia402/blob/...n%20instructions.txt

Note this has been updated today to include the Rtelligent RTEC1616 I/O board
There may be some sdoConfig statements required.
I have not tested internal homing yet. Waiting on sensors but the drives gallop away looking for them!
