Do you have ethercat slaves installed? eg connected via the ethercat network cable?
If not plesae review the instructions in the sticky carefully.
forum.linuxcnc.org/ethercat/45336-etherc...-how-to-step-by-step
Is /etc/ethercat.conf
correctly set up with your mac address.
What does dmesg say?
