Beckhoff KL4032 VFD Spindle speed control was created by Ozymandias87
Hi all! I am at the stage of procuring the required Ethercat modules to implement my CNC Router control topology and I am currently stuck on VFD speed control signal output. Is it possible to configure the HAL to use one of the analog ports on the Berkhoff 4032 Analog Output module to sent the speed signal defined in the front-end to the VFD, as in a conventional breakout board setup?
Best!
Best!

Is EtherCAT the only option?
What exactly is your setup?

Is FireWire also an option?
Or is that to much of an Apple thing in a PC-exclusive niche?

No it is not.
FireWire was a very good standard that got killed by corporate greed.
It was also used for networking mainly as interconnect between switches due to it's full duplex speed, besides all DV cameras having it at one point in time.
I liked it and used it plenty, and still have some add on cards rusting away in the shop.

FUN FACT: Did you know the original (huge n' bulky) iPod/iPad/iPhone charger was actually FireWire?

nope, they did not "adopt" it, they were forced by Europe.Eventually they gave up and adopted USB-C. (Oh well..., so much for all that work)

My old T530 has FireWire, the only thing that'll connect to that I have is a camera.
Interfaces come and go, it's the nature of the beast, think coax for networking, ega,CGA, VGA still seems to be hanging in there, IDE, Floppy, old school wide SCSI.
Tho the industrial serial stuff seems to last, thanks to it being electrically robust.

And I am sure the industry retaliated by strictly enforcing the USBC charging standards so device that used to charge OK on low voltage no longer do.
