G6400 has two cores, but who cares looking at the results (currently around 70 - 90 €). The mobo seems to be
this one
(currently around 95 - 110 €). Plus Ram plus ssd and casing, powersupply, will probably end up somewhere in between 250 - 350 €. Guess what: I ordered one!

I like <Ultra Durable Motherboard>
greez
chris
Edit: 19. Oct. 2020: Actual price for CPU, Ram, Mobo and cooler is at 300€. I do have a case and powersupply already, stuff should be here coming weekend.

Cooler that should suit a slim line case: Noctua NH-L12S
If it proofs unsuitable for linuxcnc, I can still use it as a home server (TDP of CPU is 53W, if I take the G6400T only 35W).

This is an early test of my Dell OptiPlex 7010 core i5 , 8gigs ram , 250gig SSD
and a whole lot of frustration.
In short Linux Mint 19.3 XFCE and Lcnc 2.8 Preempt don't go
well together for this machine .
A 300 second test was more then long enough to test this out
No mater what Bios settings I tried it didn't improve much.
sorry for the long post I don't currently know how to do the post within a post
