Hi Tommy and thanks so much again but...
open synaptics package manager
click settings
click repositories to reveal some tabs but no option for partner repositories.
there is a source code radio button but it is locked and checked
am i looking in the wrong place?

hi tommy
i have now installed the latest debian i can find (back to buster) and run the deb package and this happens

Wow, Thank you for the tip, I had already tried this and failed but in the intervening few weeks i have obviously learned enough about linux that this time it worked! i now have 10 hard drives in the drawer all with blank installs and working Ncam.

when i click on (ncam_debsetup.text)my browser open up window that show me text and not download it
can plz tell how to download it or just copy the all text in notepad and copy it in linuxcnc and then run sudo bash ncam_debsetup.text .
