This is great. I cant wait to give it a try, thank you all for files Clive.
its a big help
PCW
trying to get Pathpilot to see a 7i73 board using 5i25_t2_7i85.bit file, but can not seem to get the sserial working. Even from mesaflash it does not list the serial module. looking at the readhmid it does shoe the pins. using mesaflash to list the boards with --sserial it responds with nothing.. Tested the hookup with 5i25_7i76_7i85s.bit file and it will list the 7i73.
Did the serial module have to be left out to work with the Tormach?
if not can I get a Tormach bit file with the 7i85?
Thank you
Robert

Not sure who made that bit file, do you have the PIN_xxxx.vhd source file?
Do you have a 7I85 or 7I85S?

Peter you made me the bit file for a Tormach that I used a 7i85 on the second port. For the spindle encoder and 3 mpg'sNot sure who made that bit file, do you have the PIN_xxxx.vhd source file?

Yes, there is one for a 7I85S but I don't have anything for a 7i85

It was for the 7i85S. I was just curious if you could do tormach .bit with the 7i85. IF not the 7i85s will be fine if you can put the serial module in it.

To answer your question. have neither yet. but if the 7i73 will work on pathpilot I would prefer to to get the 7i85 with the extra serial ports
The serial hook up was tested using a differential driver/receiver that was put together out of scraps laying around. It works on other bit files with serial hookups.
Thank you

It works 7i73 can now be seen. just one little issue.
The muxed qcount are a total of 6 for each file 5i25_t2_7i85s.bit and the new one 5i25_t2_7i85d.bit. When 4 encoders are enable with the new 7i85d.bit file it turns on the muxed encoders on P3 and one set on P2.
looking through both files that were printed out with mesaflash.
Looks like the 5i25_t2_7i85d.bit has the Qcount channel 0 on the P3 port, and Qcount channels 1 and 2 on the P2 port
the old file 5i25_t3_7i85s.bit has the Qcount on p3 set to channel 2, and the Qcount channels 0 and 1 on the P2 port.
7i85 will be plugged in on P2 port
Is that something that can be change in the hal file? Or does it need to be changed in the bit file?
is there any way through the hal file that the encoder channels to be used can be selected?
skip Qcount channel 0 and just use channels 1 and 2?
I hate to be a pain in the a$$.
Thank you.

I started with our Tormach x2 file that has encoder 0 on P3 so if you start with this requirement, the 7I85 ends up with encoder channels 2,3,4,5
(channel 1 is a alias of 0 and not usable)
