THCAD
Pins 3 and 4 SHIELD, is this to be for a shielded cables for the Analog IN+ and - or what to connect here?
Cheers

P2 ANALOG IN
Connector P2 on the right side of the THCAD card is the analog input connector.
P2 is a six pin 3.5 MM right angle header with pins 2 and 5 removed to allow a long
creepage path for high voltage. A matching plug-in screw terminal block issupplied with
THCAD). P2 pinout is as follows:
PIN SIGNAL FUNCTION
1 IN+ Analog in +
2 XX Not used
3 SHIELD Shield gnd
4 SHIELD Shield gnd
5 XX Not used
6 IN- Analog in -

I think in your situation, you would connect it to the plasma case or ground.
It would be interesting to dig up the photos Islander261 has posted of his setup with the THCAD mounted external to the plasma cutter.

analog- goes to the torch
analog+ goes to the work clamp
the shield allows for a noise screened cable to be used

In case you do need shielding, try to find STP CAT 5 or CAT 6 cable, used for ethernet networks, it is cheap and easy to find.
Not the UTP one, that is Unshielded.

OK.
Do you have any recommendation as regards a suitable shielded cable?
it depends which THCAD you are using..... more importantly what voltage you are feeding it

300 and directly from outputs.
I would be reluctant to use ethernet cable as it's voltage insulation rating is about 300v

I have what we call SY and CY cable which is a braided cable like a steel wire armour cable but without the heavy guage shielding which is actually for mechanical protection.... I normally use 1mm2 or 1.5mm2 cable as the runs are not very long and the current is minimal for what I use it for VFD drives etc..... I just use an offcut
