I'm sure thats fine. Pretty sure we are talking micro amps not even milliamps.

Hi Rod;
What math led you to 5000 steps? What Amps?
Just curious.
Cheers

When I got my 7i76e, I played to see how high a frequency I could get to by tweaking the step settings
Then I backed off a bit and settled on 25x microstepping.
People say you loose torque but I never noticed.
I think that is obsolete advice with modern stepper drivers Just my uneducated guess.

Thanks Rod;
I designed a 4:1 reduction based on TommyLight's recommendation. I will start with 3200, which in theory should give me (.787) 20mm with a 4:1 reduction (Pi 3.1417) 3235.7224.
What do you reckon. Make sense?

Hey John,
Keen to see how your machine is running and the Unimig setup. Going down this route now.
Cheers
