2.8 or 2.9 was created by KaleD
What are the pros and cons of running 2.8 vs 2.9 as it pertains to plasmac? Right now I'm fumbling around setting up my machine in 2.8. I want to keep things simple but I keep reading posts about reverse run in 2.9. If setting things up in 2.9 would cause greater headache for a beginner than i will just stick with 2.8.

I don't quite understand why there is a 2.8 and 2.9 while the latest stable release is 2.7. Shouldn't 2.8 be finalized before starting 2.9?

I'm curious to hear what others are running. What are the features that I'd miss in 2.9? Any links and sales pitches are appreciated.

Thanks,

2.8 is the current stable release, unofficially, still waiting on something or another to make it official.
If you do not plan to fiddle and test the software side of things, use 2.8
2.9 is still in development and might have issues.

2.9 is slang for master- there is no 2.9 branch yet.- or the description of the future release after 2.8.
Master is the development branch and it's likely to be unstable for a while - there was big changes added recently.

I'll have to let someone else answer about the differences relating to plasmac

but I keep reading posts about reverse run in 2.9.

Reverse run is now standard in 2.8. No need for 2.9 master to get reverse run anymore. The easiest thing as a n00b is going to be the 2.8 buildbot versions.
