Float Switch Activated was created by little_sparky
Hi All,
I keep activating my float switch during cutting, weird thing is i might get 1 or 2 meters of cutting in before it happens, but im pretty sure it has something to do with the volts I am running.
I have an Everlast 50s Plasma and I cant really find anything to say what volts I need to be cutting at, usually during cutting it sits at anywhere between 69-76 volts.
I have run at 62, 66, 76 and 84 volts and still cant really tell if anything is making it better or worse. If I am triggering the float switch, should I increase or decrease the volts?
Also was cutting at 1.5mm but moved to 1.7mm and didnt really see much difference.
Any help will be so much appreciated.

Have you tried with Auto Volts checked. It should then work out the voltage required from the Cut Height.

The float switch is activating due to the torch diving. Try as Phill suggested using the Auto Volt feature. It will take a sample of the voltage at the beginning of the cut and will use that for the cut. That feature makes selecting the correct voltage from a chart obsolete.
I do not set the voltage anymore on my machine and it works perfectly with Auto Volts.

I just checked my machine and I am using the auto volt feature.
I have added some sheetcam rules to my Gcode around sharp cornes and arcs so I will see if this helps, im not sure it will as it was even tripping on long straight cuts.

Are the THC lights activating in the GUI saying that the THC is moving up and down?

Yep, and the Z axis is moving.
I have the height per volt set pretty low, what value should this be?

Unless you have done some halscope plots and measured it then leave it at the default 0.1mm (0.004") which should be in the ballpark.
