Is there a way to disable THC locking? was created by Sushi
Hi Everyone, I was wondering if it's possible to prevent the THC (THCAD-05/Mesa 7i96S) from locking the THC position? I want to be able to cut corrugated material, the wavy stuff.
Thank you,

What are you using, PlasmaC or QtPlasmaC?
You would need a very fast Z axis to do that, and plenty of tuning, so might be a good idea to make a new config just for that as it does require changing several values.

You should be able to just disable velocity antidive or set a really low threshold/
The maximum possible cut speed is determined by the Z axis velocity. It is possible to calulate this using some formulas Dewey Garrett came up with.
I put them in a spreadsheet here (view only)
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kCE-M-3O...lr4/edit?usp=sharing
Set your pierce delay to zero and a short THC delay (0.01 sec or so- needs experimenting) Watch in halscope to determine what you can get away with.
I don't think there is any other settings required if you respect the Z axis velocity constraint.

I'm running QTPlasmaC. I'll definitely make a new config just in case, good advice.

There is no "QtPalsmaC" section.
And subject is QtPlasmaC that is a separate project based on LinuxCNC.
