Installing QtVCP was created by phillc54
There is a script available on the LinuxCNC repository to automate the installation of QtVCP requirements.
  • It will install the basics required to run a QtVCP GUI.
  • It will prompt to ask if you want to install designer to create QtVCP GUI's

    • You can run the script directly from a terminal as follows.

    Run in place installation:
    ~/linuxcnc-dev/lib/python/qtvcp/designer/install_script


    Package installation (Buildbot):
    /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/qtvcp/designer/install_script

    How long does it take to install Qtvcp?


    The biggest "how long variable" will be your download speed and how quick your machine unpacks everything. But after looking at phils script it is some good work and is quicker and less error prone than typing in commands.

    Give it a try and report back, whether you have success or not. That's how you can help him out.

    there are peaple using varios combinations

    i woudt like to see a warning that tels please update to 2.x First
    isent there also a depencies clinch as it installs not the os related QT like 5.4 against 5.8

    Qtvcp is only in the docs for 2.8 and master.


    isent there also a depencies clinch as it installs not the os related QT like 5.4 against 5.8

    There is a different version of libpyqt5_py2.so for qt5.5, qt5.7 & qt5.9 and that is handled by the installer script.
