I got completely turned around looking at those pics the first time.  I thought the surface you were resting the belt on was actually the pulley teeth in mesh with the belt.

Duh.

The dark line in the middle of the tooth is just the last bit that still has the original surface, with a bit of dirt that makes it darker. On both sides, it is mostly obliterated. I assume that is what you mean by “tit.”

And I think the gap between the teeth is also to reduce the smallest possible bending angle, in addition to the reasons you listed.

Is that supposed to be a T5 belt profile?  I've never seen a timing pulley with a 'tit' on the tooth crest.

Is the tit on the pulley teeth from wear, or is it some substance that got in the belt tooth valley groove and stuck to the teeth? And that's what you're cleaning?

To clarify, here's a T5 belt profile from Misumi.  I think the groove is there to help air escape at higher speeds (noise reduction).

I finally found the problem with the threading. Should have found it much earlier. It’s the belt.

It gets chewed up. Opening the side panel, I found belt-colored dust, but the belt still locked fine, at least from the side. Looking closer showed that the teeth are broken up from the middle outward (see picture).
I found one tooth gap with some hard thing in it, so I assume that my initial cleaning when installing the belt was not very thorough and I overlooked that.
After cleaning that out and reinstalling the already damaged belt, I could thread fine. But I think this will not last long, so I ordered new belts and will install them after VERY thoroughly cleaning both pulleys.
It’s really typical for me that the solution to a month of problems is: “You should have cleaned the thing better.”

Wenn du bei Amazon bestellst, geht's schnell aber kein STO.
Wenn du direkt bei Stepperonline bestellst, freu dich auf den Zoll.

I did that; I installed the latest version of LNC from buildbot2.highlab.com/debian/bookworm master, and the problems persist. To execute a command with an external button, MDI must first be selected, which doesn't happen with the buttons on the screen. Regarding running O Word, both with external buttons and those on the screen, it now appears that the O Word file path cannot be found, and the error "Error Oword XXXX.ngc path not found" and "File not open" appear. And when executed manually from MDI, the error is "File not open."

yes, that will be the stable release when there is a stable release, but currently we are not promoting one because develop version is still early testing. bear in mind that even the develop version is currently still a development version and will have a very turbulent update schedule as we find bugs and correct them from the pyside6 porting.

One case here in Australia, a  small winemaker  who sold wine under his own name Robert Chardon got a cease and desist letter from Moet et Chandon the Franch champagne brand thanks to one of those Lawyers. Robert probably sold 10 tonne of grapes a year if he was lucky when economies of scale says a winery needs to produce 1000 tonnes. He had to change his brand!

I've sold the business now but I sent a cease and desist to a large company infringing my trademark selling a counterfeit version of my product via Google ads which was an unwanted legal expense! If you have a trademark you have to defend it.

But the worst I heard was an Aussie one man band found Microsoft was using his patented software protection system (Probably on Windows) and his heart sank knowing he had no choice but to tell them to stop. By this time he was living in the USA and IBM helped him and he won the case. Not sure about the appeal though!

The irony of a lawyer pushing that, is the more they irritate the customer and potential customer base, the
less likely people will be to purchase there products. Especially when it is heavily based off of open source

Several errors.

1. A typo. You wrote "EMBED_TAB_HAME = CROSSHAIR" instead of "EMBED_TAB_NAME = CROSSHAIR". Unfortunately you don't get an error because the interpreter just thinks "this value is not for me".
2. you need to define where the VCP should be shown like Aciera mentioned, e.g.
Code:
EMBED_TAB_LOCATION = ntb_preview

Then you get a meaningful error message
Code:
gtk-builder-error-quark: crosshair-panel.ui:12:34 Invalid property: HAL_Table.n-rows (11)

This points out that you used an old glade editor. Saving it with a up-to-date Glade 3 editor (3.40 e.g.) removes this and other obsolete properties.

Then the VCP is displayed:

Further you have a handler "on-changed" defined in your glade (ui) file, but no python file where this handler is defined
Code:
AttributeError: Handler on-changed not found
