Hi to all of you,

I am new to LinuxCNC and I set up a system using Ethercat and Probe Basic. I am getting more and more familiar with the configuration system and so far, everything works really well. The motors are moving and IOs do what I want them to do. So far so good.

The only problem I have is the use of DEFAULT_LINEAR_VELOCITY in the TRAJ section of the ini file. No matter what I put in here (trying to set it to 50mm/s), the speed ends up always beeing 600 mm/min ( which is 10mm/s). I checked the ini file if the line occurs twice. I also checked linked files but I can't find another occurence. It just drives me nuts. I searched several internet advices but no explained solutions work for me.

It would be very nice if someone could have a look at my files and maybe find a solution I didn't see myself. Thanks a lot for this.

Please be aware, that I did prepare the hal file for more axis than three. But I only have 3 servos at the moment so there might be some future changes.

Just updated to the dev branch and tested the new feature with the Tang Nano 9K: it works perfectly!

The board now starts communicating and reading inputs immediately as soon as LinuxCNC launches, completely solving the startup issue.

Huge thanks for implementing this so quickly and for being so attentive and responsive. Really appreciate your support!

@Oxbown

I’ve added an option for AutoConnect,
but I haven’t been able to test it properly yet; at least it’s already working in the simulator (dev branch)

Hi, ok, i understand what you mean, this is 'work as designed', little bit different to mesa :)
but i will check how to connect directly on startup.

Hi!I ran into a weird issue with my Tang Nano 9K setup (using Axis). On startup, LinuxCNC doesn't seem to read any inputs from the FPGA until I manually toggle E-Stop off in the UI (F1) at least once. After that initial click on screen, all physical buttons and inputs work perfectly. It's a bit of a chicken-and-egg problem, as I can't use a physical reset button to clear the initial E-Stop on launch. Is the communication loop paused while in initial E-Stop, or is there a way in HAL to make RioCore poll and update inputs right from the start? Thanks!

I mean:  1 pc port, 1 Ethernet switch, 1 Ethercat drive (Z axis), 1 c-mesa card 7i92 with X, Y axis connected. runnig in a loop

Nice. Which model Wago ethernet switch did you use? I was under the impression most ethernet switches don't run ethercat.

I think I'm still on 2.09. I have one of those network cards that was a pain to troubleshoot when I originally set LCNC up (it kept randomly freezing up the Mesa board) and therefore I've resisted upgrading the LCNC version image missing /media/kunena/emoticons/laughing.png

Dear,

Yes, I tested with X and Y axis controlled by c-mesa 7i92 ver 2.0 and Z axis on Ethercat port, and works fine, I run a program and looks fine but i do no cut any piece of metal yet because this is a test setup and the Z ethercat servo was a external rtelligent ethercat closed loop step motor and my original z servo is way bigger and it is step and direction controled

And after as a test I disconnect the 2 Ethernet ports, and then I use only one Ethernet port and I made the proper setup for ethercat mac address for the same port as the mesa port , and I use a Ethernet switch from wago (industrial Ethernet switch) and I connect only one PC Ethernet port (the original one onboard port from ralteck), and the ethercat drive and c-mesa card to the same switch and was working fine, I did not spend to much time testing, because I need the machine back to work again,

I mean:  1 pc port, 1 Ethernet switch, 1 Ethercat drive (Z axis), 1 c-mesa card 7i92 with X, Y axis connected. runnig in a loop

And I am really surprised that I test some mixed configuration and the CNC machine with probe basic GUI, and was working fine without prompt me a issue,

Yes, the 7I77U is identical to the 7I77 and 7I77D  FPGA interface wise.

Thank you Tim,

Thanks very much for the details; I’ve entered the board’s details as best I could,
I hope it’s all correct so far – please do have a look over it.
What’s not quite clear to me yet is, how do you flash it? Are there any connectors on the back?

You’re also welcome to send me some text and a link for the description, and I’ll update it.

Okay, thanks! Is the .bin file for 7i77 the same as for 7i77U?
