Hi Tommy, I downloaded the ISO from your first post. Which software did you use to calculate the MD5? I’m using MD5-Check and getting a different MD5. Or did you post a newer version in another thread? The UEFI installation method seems outdated—do I need to disable Secure Boot?
Many thanks,
Hans

Hi.
I have got this Lenovo cable:

It is important this has 26 pin plug which can move or remove pins. (There are flat cable with fixed plug too.)
You have to make one 1mm hole because Mesa has all pins, but Lenovo motherboard's socket only 25.
When you remove bracket, the second plug fit BOB without problems.
Why removable pins are important?
1. You must move GND pins if you need 5V power from mesa socket.
2. The PC817 optocouplers on BOB have very low bandwith.
If you will to use 7i92_5ABOB_Enc.bit and configure encoders=1 in hal file, this fits PC817 optocouplers on BOB.
I removed three pins from cable plug and move them to second mesa socket and use them as limits connected to BOB.
I have E6B2CWZ6C 2500 p/r encoder working well with 5V power.
If you make encoder's cable ends with goldpin plugs (no matter how) you can fit them to Lenovo cable 26 pin plug.
Unfortunatelly I can't make photo, because I'm now in other place than my lathe.
The encoder works well with 2000 RPM. With PC817 optocouplers it will be only 200 rpm or less, I suppose.
Note, that E6B2CWZ6C manufacturer promised 100 kHz bandwith.
If your spindle can spin more, you may have to use less resolution encoder.

Thanks for the reply. I now also monitored the GPIOs.

Correction to my earlier post in this thread first: the InM is not frozen. That was a monitoring-timing mistake on my end — IN4 (E-stop) tracks perfectly in both inm.00.input-04 and gpio.004.in. Card, InM and Ethernet are all fine.

System: LinuxCNC 2.9.10 (uspace), Raspberry Pi CM5, Debian 12 PREEMPT_RT, 7I96S via hm2_eth.
config="num_encoders=1 num_pwmgens=1 num_stepgens=5 sserial_port_0=0xxxxxxx"

Bank is wired sourcing (common on 0 V) — confirmed by several known-good and working inputs:

E-stop: 24V+ → NC switch → IN4. Released (24 V on pin) → TRUE; pressed (open) → FALSE. Tracks perfectly.
Driver alarms: 24V+ → ALM → IN0–3, working.

Problem input: IN8 has an M8 NPN-NC inductive sensor (sinking). Bare, its target-present level only reached ~13 V, so it read active in both states; I added a ~470 Ω pull-up from the pin to +24 V. The pin now measures:

target absent: 0.1 V
target present: 23.85 V

The sensor's own LED and the card's IN8 input LED both follow the target correctly — but inm.00.input-08 and gpio.008.in read stuck TRUE regardless.

Hey guys just wanted to upload this config with a cnc conversational gcode software.  I will try make some videos as this is the coolest thing ever i think.  its all made with claude so i can't really take credit for it.  but i have been machining for 16 years now and used fagor and semiens lathe controls with conversational software like shop turn.  and this is the closest i could make to something like that.  this runs as a  embedded glade vcp tab in axis gui.  so as simple as you can get with linuxcnc.  and has no dependancy's that i could find,  everything runs on python and there is no subroutines in the conversational software.  so if you want to add this to your own config i think that all you will need to do is copy any python files you can find and add the right lines to the ini to load the glade tab which you can copy from my ini.

All code is long hand so no canned cycles.  and the profile cycles are made based off the linuxcnc canned cycles.

you can reload a old program made with this back into the conversational software and make changes in a few seconds and re post it.

this is still a work in progress but its been running large cnc lathes for a few weeks and no issues so far.  and you can see in the preview anyway  enjoy and if anyone uses it let me know cheers.  just hoping to give back a little to linuxcnc a bit and this has been massively missing for ages.  even ecam only does mills i think.

if you want to install this i have made it as simple as i know how to.
step 1 if on a brand new install from the ISO then open the linuxcnc config picker first and open any sim.  that will make folders for linuxcnc and configs etc
step 2 copy and past this file into the normal configs directory.  and unzip or unzip before copying

open the linuxcnc config picker again and open this config.  click desktop shortcut.

run it post code and have a look.

Ps just a few things to warn about.  this uses chris morley's wear patch so t0101  and also uses g30 for tool change positiion.  and assumes a encode for g33.1 tapping and for threading

this was tested today on a fresh install of 2.10 cheers

Andrew

hey let me know if you get this ok

hey logged on to linuxcnc and just saw this now i will get my config

or you can let me know which ones you’d like to see included – as long as the FPGA supports them, it’s no problem.

I'm sorry I'm not kindly to you, but your very hard work will be useless, if you have important things in secret.
For example you adviced in github md "than copy a config file that is near to your setup", but there are no tangnano1k setups in github, but I see you have some setups for this board , because you show about it on YouTube...
Share your configs, please.

Thanks, heaps, for the info. I have a working config for Ethercat on my raspberry pi 5, So I will play around with connecting a tang 9k to the spi on the pi and see how I go. I will post more info if/when i get it working.
Thanks again.
Andrew

I think from memory, in sheetcam, you do a drill operation and that inserts the spotting code. (assuming its in the post processor) Perhaps you can do the same in f360.

please share your Hal and ini files. I think you have added something that's not necessary.
Can you run an axis sim?

I have a good model of my lathe, but the mill model is rather lacking.
There are a few milling machine models on Thingiverse / Printables etc.

Thanks Andy, The PR is there now  github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/pull/4318

There is little more than a single bug fix in 2.10 so unless that is going to affect you which it probably isn't, just get your Mesa card up and running with the working system you have.
