My TOS MCV 1000 machining center Retrofit with Siemens 611 was created by santy
Hello everyone
Recently I came across this machining centre, which I bought.
it had a working 410 heidenhain controller which I am selling, as i don't like the interface and usability, and as I am restauring the machine fully including a lcnc retrofit with mesa 7i92 and 7i77.
here are some pictures of the build. I will be updating this post!
The ball screws have some backlash, so I will be using linear scales as encoders with the intention to mitigate this backlash.
Though I managed to interface lcnc with the original heidenhain encoders, this seems a more viable approach.

I wonder if re-balling the ballscrews would help with the backlash? Though that's not a job for the faint-hearted.

I replaced all the radial axial bearings. Steel balls can be changed for the nut. A good starting point is 0.005 or 0.01um on large balls.
A simple mechanical problem is not a good idea to fix with software. The screw plays the main function for hard milling

Yes I am also working on this.
the 611 is kicking my head in some basic thing I’m probably not getting right.
these drives were using an analog signal to command the movement of the servos, and 24v signals to enable or disable them.
im supplying analog to the driving “analog setpoint” terminals 56/14 connections,
im suppling three phase power to simodrive
I’m supplying 24v+ to terminal 9, 24v+ to terminal 663, located in the Y axis control spot on the simodrive.
Im also supplying 0V (from the 24v reference) to terminal 19 which is in another place
(not in the “axis servos” part of the simodrive, but in the main part on the left)
I’m not using AS1 or AS2 I’m assuming these are a relay which will be closed when drive is enabled to tell my cnc everything is ok?
someone who has experience in these 611 drives can advise please? Maybe there is somewhere else I should enable things? Or something I must do . I know for sure both the motors and drives are working perfectly.

The only light present at the left is green.
Does it have an internal PSU? Can you reference the terminals for this ? I couldn’t find it

LED green –Ext. enable signal not available (terminal 63 and/or 64 missing
you want yellow led to be present
terminal 9 is your 24V supply, you don't need anything else
just connect terminal 9 to 63,64,65,663
I don't know if you have a brake on Z axis motor, then you need to check where is it connected before applying voltage to axis 56/14

ok . i will test this now. i hope i haven't fucked up by supplying 24v to 9 in the first place. first will check the brake thing on the Z but i think it does have something
thank you, will update.

as far as I remember AS1 is a relay
assets.euautomation.com/uploads/parts/da...6sn11231aa000da1.pdf
on the left side I see you took a wire from terminal 64 but what about terminal 63? I can't tell from the photo,
terminal 63 is third pin higher from the 64
