StepConf Wizard and CW5045

Recently I wired CW5045 and tried to configure axis velocity and acceleration. However, pressing the button Test Axis, opens new window but motors do not move in any of the axis. Increasing/decreasing the amount in speed and accel no affecting the motor, simple it is out of order. Furthermore, any change in StepConfWiz (speed, acceleration) does affect the machine performance in Axis. I would prefer is I can do adjustment in StepConfWiz of the motors and then see the performance in Axis, then to change parameter in StepConfWiz, close the window, open the Axis, check it, and in case there is issue, close the Axis, open StepConfWiz, make adjustment, close it and so on and so forth.

Any advise, why I am not able to do adjustment directly in StepConfWiz?

Thank you,

Hi

Stepconf really is just to get a basic working configuration, not a tuning app.

What you want to do is quite easy, you just open your ini file in one screen and make the changes and save, then open Axis in another screen and see the result.

These are the main parameters you want to look at with some annotations
[DISPLAY]

## OVERRIDE VALUES
MAX_FEED_OVERRIDE = 1.2
MIN_SPINDLE_OVERRIDE = 0.5
MAX_SPINDLE_OVERRIDE = 1.2

## default jog speed in slider
DEFAULT_LINEAR_VELOCITY = 8

#The maximum velocity for linear jogs, in machine units per second.
MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY = 10

# The approximate lowest value the jog slider.
MIN_LINEAR_VELOCITY = .01

[TRAJ]
## def vel is for jogging
DEFAULT_VELOCITY = 8
DEFAULT ACCELERATION = 5
## max velocity and accel for any axis coordinated move
MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY = 25
MAX_ACCELERATION = 120

[AXIS_0]
#####units / sec eg. 25 x 60 = 1500
MAX_VELOCITY = 22
MAX_ACCELERATION = 100
# these figures should be approx 10% higher
# to allow overhead for co-ordinated moves
STEPGEN_MAXACCEL = 120
STEPGEN_MAXVEL = 25

Hopefully that helps

The figures used are metric and specific to one machine, not any sort of guide to those you need.

regards

If your driver requires an "enable" of any sorts the test this axis will not work.

Actually an amp enable signal will be honoured but looks like chanrgepump would not be setup in the axis test.

Do you require a chargepump?

No I do not need pump in my case, but driver needs to be enabled.

try openning a terminal and start stepconf from there (type: stepconf <return>)

when running the test there may be some error messages printed in the terminal that would give a clue.

Yes.
You must shut down linuxcnc before running the stepconf's axis test again.

stepconf's test tries to start the realtime environment and linuxcnc already has it running.
