It might be worth tracing the actual tracks on the PCB to the stepper driver chips.

I have been reading some other threads and notice that the "amplifier enable" might have a lot to do with this situation. I am beginning to think that since there is only the amplifier enable switch that doesn't appear to be tied to any specific channel that maybe "amp enable" needs to change state before moving from one axis to another. I don't know if that makes any sense.
This all leads me to believe that the answer will lie somewhere in HAL config. If thats the case I think I'll need a year or two to learn that language before I'm able to do anything with it.
In the meantime I will try ringing out the leads and see what I can discover
Tks again
Bruce

You need to post your .ini and .hal files.
Without them we are all just fumbling in the dark.
If you have an amp-enable connected to pin 6 and X-Enable to pin 14, your config is wrong
You don't have any servo amplifiers, so I suspect you have connected Amp-Enable to Y, X-enable to X and nothing to Z
All you need is just one enable output and wire all the driver enables to it.
But then I am guessing as well, because you have not given us much information.

Here is how I configured the board via Stepconf.
Pin:
1 X Step
2 Y Enable
3 Y Direction
4 Z Direction
5 Z Step
6 Amp Enable
7 X Dirction
8 Y Step
9 Spindle Motor
10 Input 0
11 Input 1
12 Input 2
13 Input 3
14 X Enable
15 Unused
16 Out 1
17 Out 2

If anyone is still here, I believe I found the problem. There appears to have been a 'cold' solder joint on the circuit board. I repaired the joint and now the z stepper is turning just fine.
So much for Chinese quality control
