Here at school we have an old light machines comppany super spectra light mill that has a shady stepper. We also have a lathe by the same company that has been converted to a mill that I am planning to get a replacement stepper from. The only problem is the computer with the software on it doesnt work anymore, but I am trying to get emc to drive it...does anyone have any idea where i can find the pinout?

thanks

Rex

Hello, I built and maintain build.spaceopera.org/ . The EMC configuration was incomplete, this was an oversight that has been fixed. The correct values can be found on the site under "EMC2 Configuration".

Cheers,

Shannon

Ok I have now got it all set up to move as in your configuration, however the steppers make a lot of noises that sound like gears grinding in a manual gearbox and may move a little but will only move in one direction and will still make a whole heap of extra noise while moving...any ideas?

It sounds like you might be trying to drive the steppers too fast. Try making a drastic reduction in your velocity and adjusting your acceleration.

ok I will try that and tell you how it goes

How much would I need to change the numbers by? Or would that be too machine specific to my machine?
