Connecting separate 'home' and 'index' switches is far more complex than I ever expected. Not even sure it would ever work without an unknown amount of software changes.
I am now considering ANDing the end of travel 'home' switch closure with the next 'index' switch closure. The combined signal can then be configured with 'stepconfig' in the normal way.
