As a side note the Dell always had a spike when starting with 8.04.
The Dell also would not run with 10.04, ridiculous latency numbers.
After building from scratch as shown on previous threads to allow the computer to run with 10.04 the initial spikes disappeared.

Warning! That latency error is only REPORTED once per startup of the RT thread.I've always wanted to know.. can one live with the initial realtime error, if then it doesn't appear anymore during use?

often not recur as a delay in the thread.

In my case I was referring to running the latency test.

There is a HAL parameter,( motion.servo.overruns ) that counts over-runs. If you see the RT delay fault, then it is worth monitoring that pin with a Halmeter.
If it's only 1 or 2, then perhaps live with it. If it is rising continually then there is a real problem.

i'm glad i found this thread as i was considering an amd e-350d powered board i came across but after seeing so many posts about atom cpu's i didin't know if the apu was viable. also thinking about an atom board with a d2500 (no hyperthreading but plenty of clock speed.) but may go with something more proven in the forum. is it your opinion that the asus board would be a better candidate to run stepper motors? i'm still trying to put together the pieces on what parameters effect what.
