Spindle location on the opposite side was created by Murphy
I'm complete newbie with linuxcnc, CNC in general. Can somebody tell me when I load the pawn example from the files. The pawn is loaded in the opposite direction. How do I reverse it

Yes, the tool moves from bottom to top towards the center line.

Do I need to change something in the pawn example G code so the base of the pawn is facing to the left rather than the right ?

I think it's actually the gcode example that is 'inverted' as it really creates a negative of a chess pawn.

I modeled up a pawn in fusion 360 and opened up the post in linuxcnc and it's still the same. Anybody have any ideas how to change the Z so the base of the pawn is on the left
When I home the machine the switches are activated on x when it moves down(x+) away from the spindle. Z homes towards the spindle and hits the switches. It then marks where g54 is.
The cutter is also cutting in the opposite direction.(In axis preview )But the axis are moving in the correct direction. X axis moves from X+ to X-(towards center line) Z moves from Z+ to Z- (towards spindle)
I have attached my ini file

Looks ok to me, the base of the pawn (ie the wider part) is on the left.
The green/blue X/Z indicator shows your current work offset origin.
X+ should move the tool away from the center line.
Z+ should move the tool away from the spindle.

The wider part(base) is on right in linuxcnc as in the pic. It should be on the left the wider part is supposed to be held in the spindle. My spindle is on the left
It's supposed to machine the head first and move down to the base. But it's flipped around. I'll try and take a video of it,
