What I did: In xfce you can go System|Synaptic Package Manager, search for Linuxcnc, mark linuxcnc-uspace. In Menu -> Package Force Version->you can select an older version -> apply.

The official ISO is still 2.9.4 AFAIK.

I just tried to force back with Synaptic Package Manager, and got an error.see attached.

Or 2.9.6 which has been created to fix this specific issue, but hasn't been moved onto the repository yet (I haven't been at home long enough to do it since the debs got built).Uninstall 2.9.5
