@Aciera -

I tried to use the python comp, but I'm getting an error. Probably related to my installation rather than your file.

lathe@lathe:~$ halcmd loadusr /home/lathe/linuxcnc/configs/LATHE_REV1.713/python/unhome_comp.py
lathe@lathe:~$ /usr/bin/env: ‘python3\r’: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/env: use -[v]S to pass options in shebang lines

Any ideas?

Note the backslash-r in ‘python3\r’.
Seems that you have a problem with line endings, did you handle the file on a windows system?

If you have to use Windows maybe this helps:

Yes, I created the file on a Win computer... but I used VS Code.  Haven't had any of the typical 'wordpad' issues others have reported when using Win to edit/create files until now.

I'll create a new one from scratch on the Debian PC and see how it goes.  Thanks again.

From memory, GEANY can convert WORPAD, MS-DOS text to text format, and has a function for this in the program.

And notepad++ on windows can be told to write Linux compatible line endings
