I wonder if it should be installed then?
Uninstalling it did not recover my 2 machines.

I wandered off after trying that uninstall, leaving the thing running with only the terminal window open. After a half hour it nad not locked up yet. Then I started a latency check, and opened a couple of youtube windows, causeing it to freeze after about a minute.

I would disable EIST and Turbo mode.
The lockups may be Intel video related, you might try adding
intel_idle.max_cstate=1 to the kernel command line (with grub)

My feeling is that you should switch off nearly everithing on the first page.
For yor freezing have a look

Disable C-State reporting with J1900 CPU - Tipro

Good call guys. I turned off EIST, turbo and C state reporting in Bios, and it has now been running a couple of Youtube channels and the latency test for about an hour without freezing up.
Would their still be an advatage to do intel_idle.max_cstate=1 to the kernel command line (with grub)? I don't knwohow to do that yet, so it'll take me a bit of searching to find out.
I really appreciate yor help here.
Mark
