Make good photo of face of machine servodrives (that place where wires are).
And reference to manual or (as better make scan of wiring diagram).
Simovert (Servodrives) as you can see also use Profibus interface to comunicate with Simumeric. When you disconnect it from CNC board, probably they will go in fault. You will also need to reconfigure them.

Is that 12'000€ for the conversion to linuxCNC?
You can get decent servo kits for less than 1'000€ per axis. Boards and electronics say another 1'000. I'd say 4'500€ should have the materials covered. Of course if you need to pay for the labor as well because you can't or don't want to do it yourself then that could increase considerably depending on the going rates in your area.
Of course I'm aware that you can get servo kits for a lot less than 1'000 € but I tend to buy the more expensive stuff as that usually saves on working hours afterwards.

hey torus
just saw this and saw you asking questions on my youtube videos showing my cnc mill
just saying hi and any questions sing out. Retrofitting is a lot of work. but very rewarding. I get to run a machine shop now on machines I bought for scrap price and still charge as much as if they were expensive machines which is great. but it is a lot of work to learn.
regards
Andrew

I suppose that you need to live old drives, more over if they are in good condition. They should be only reconfigured.

Right now we try to revive old drivers we found out that :
6FC5114-0AB01-0AA1 VER J 5VDC 15VDC -15VDC POWER SUPPLY ASCOM
this power supply is broken later we see what is wrong with z axis if we revive it it will stay with old siemens and someday i may retrofit it right now i want to buy working mill to expand my workshop.
