Ubuntu EMC2 image installed and working happily!
Bye-Bye Windows - you will never seem quite as good as you once did now I've found Linux!
Now I need to read up on how to configure these ports for my machine!
I'm still waiting on the TB6560AHQ IC's to arrive, should be within the next week or so. Have been playing with circuit designs, PCB layout ideas etc...
Cheers, Scott.

Many thanks! Also this will help witg setting up 'stepconf'..
Edit:
Just looked at the stepconf guide, does it allow easy configuration of more than one paraport? The guide only talks about one port.

I spent a couple of hours last night modifying my Linux CNC PC case...
I removed the CD drive framework (just drilling out pop rivets) and installed a massive heatsink for the driver IC's and motor speed controller FET in place of the CD drive slots.
Hope you like my idea!
Still to add a little rigidity to the mounting, but you get the idea!
Cheers, Scott

I like the heat sink... it looks industrial.

Thanks... I really can't remember where I got it from.. Just one of those things, to good to see it thrown away.. yes, I am a bit of a hoarder / skip-rat, as I'm sure a lot of us are!
I was lucky that it fitted neatly into the space available!
Next step is mounting the lathe and spindle motor, then to get on with the electronics. It's nice doing a project like this, as you can pick and choose with bit to do next depending on your mood!
Cheers, Scott.

Hi!
While my information is not about DIY the controller, but about fixing Ebay's Chinese TB6560 cheap controllers, hope this story can be useful while design new board:
bdyssh.ru/?p=1567
(It is not about widely known optocouplers problem, but yet another bug).
