As I have some rewiring to do I need some advice.

Below how step/dir is on the AC Servo drive

So, how do I wire up this? Had pins 3 and 4 go to 5VDC on my Mach3 setup earlier.
Still same so pin 1 to pin 4 on 7i76E and pin 2 to pin 2 ?

Seems obvious,
TB2-2 -> pin 2
TB2-3 -> pin 4
TB2-4 -> pin 1
TB2-5 -> pin 3

Before when you were using Mach3 you only had single ended outputs from a parallel port breakout. That is why you used the 5v to one of the pin pairs.

Never had anything else = single ended. Better to ask ;)

Thanks

I have another driver that I have never used, this is for my A-axis.

This is a Sanyo Denki PY2 driver and I want to set it up for step/dir.

So what pins go where on 7i76E is my question?

TB2-2 -> pin ?
TB2-3 -> pin ?
TB2-4 -> pin ?
TB2-5 -> pin ?

probably something like:

TB2-2 -> pin 5
TB2-3 -> pin 6
TB2-4 -> pin 7
TB2-5 -> pin 8

Though this is just guessing that drive pins 5 and 6 are step and 7,8 are direction
when the drive is in step/dir mode. If the drive does not have a step/dir mode
the 7I76E stepgen for the drive can be set in CW/CCW mode

Also you probably would not want these connected to stepgen-0
if this is an A axis that would normally be mapped to stepgen-3
This mapping of stepgens/axis is arbitrary, but random assignments tend
to lead to harder to understand hal files

Not sure but it could very well be CW/CCW, hard for me to understand all different wording used from different manufacturers. The complete manual pdf file is too big to include here on the forum.

Is it better to convert step dir to CW/CCW via a board like this?

There is no need for any conversion. The Mesa card can output that type of signal (and some others) directly. The type of stepgen signal is configured via a hal pin. The exact name of the pin will be determined by the Mesa board you are using, but it will end with step_type. Use a setp line in your hal file to set it to one of 0 = Step/Dir, 1 = Up/Down (aka.CW/CCW), or 2 = Quadrature.

There is no need for that board if using Linuxcnc as it can output several types of steps ,
