Linuxcnc 2.8.1
Unsure what version of Mesaflash and not sure how to tell. It does list the 7c81 in the help file (which I know is only recently added...)

That's the kernel spi device (for access to the SPI hardware via the kernel driver)
Do you have SPI enabled in the RPI?

SPI is disabled in raspi_config as recommended here:
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/man/man9/hm2_rpspi.9.html
I did manually toggle leds on and off using halcmd. I assume that was over spi??

Mesaflash needs the device driver enabled
I have in enabled in my config, I dont see that that's
actually an issue unless you are running some application
that accesses SPI (other than LinuxCNC)

Just getting into pncconf for the first time. I am not sure how to setup and modify the configuration as suggested to get the 7c81 with g540x2d up and running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Am I trying to “Modify a configuration already created with this program”? Is so please help with how to do this. Thank you!

I would create a suitable configuration for a 5I25 + G540
then hand edit the created hal and ini files to change
the driver and card names

How do I go about editing the Hal and ini files?
What driver would the 7c81 use and is it already installed?
