6I25 --recover

Hi All,
I have a 6I25 and wanted to run it in PCIE mode.
In order to do this I need to load a 6I25 bit file.
For this I generated one based on the VIVADO project in the HM2 source folder.
I used one of the existing files for 7I76 with a 7I85.
As a next step I changed the W7 jumper to up to get the 66MHz enabled.
Next I tried to read the current bit file and Mesaflash showed no HM2 FW exist.
I thought that should be fine due to the jumper change.
but Mesaflash throws an error when I try to load the bitfile.
the error is boot sector invalid.
Next I changed the jumper back to 33MHZ, but Mesaflash still shows no HM2FW and same error.

I hope someone can give me a hint how I can get this working and what I am doing wrong.

Please see the attached Bit file and VIVADO project.
BTW I tested the card yesterday in my WS and it was OK.

I don't think there really is much advantage to 66 MHz PCI clock on the 6I25

You can recover by using mesaflash's --recover mode

Hi PCW,

I will try the recovery mode.
Still I would like to know what needs to be done to get the 66MHz working, even when it would be just for giggles.
It would probably help with NVME speeds and interrupts.

Can you please check the config I attached above?
This would be more than helpful.

Edit:
I tried - - recover with writing the fallback.bit but the card doesn’t come back. I set the jumper to 33MHz.
I wonder what I am doing wrong. Should I send the card to you -Mesa- for check out?

Hi All,

I changed the Jumper to test the 66MHz mode. The bit file I made based on the 6i26 Xilinx file was rejected from the loader and not written to the card.
However the card shows that NO HM2 Firmware is installed.
I tried the recover function with the eeprom disabled jumper in 33 and 66MHz with on veil.
It showed that the bitfile was witten to the card but after reboot an eemprom enable jumper change it still showed the message that the card has no HM2 FW. I removed the card from the slot to do this.

I tried to load the same 5I25 fall back bitfile as before and it shows that the boot loader is corrupted.

Is the card recoverable?
Why has this happened the only change I did was moving the jumper to 66MHz and no bitfile write?

Thank you

BTW the card is pulling down the Ethernet port when it is plugged in.

If you corrupted the bootloader you must re-write the card in recover mode with the mesaflash option to re-write the bootloader

Hi PCW,

I tried several different combinations of --recover and the card looks like to be loading the file. But still has the same issue.

I tired:
- sudo mesaflash --device 6I25 --recover --write Fallback.bit -starts at address 1000 runs through
- sudo mesaflash --device 6I25 --recover --fix-boot-block --write Fallback.bit -starts at address 1000 runs through
- sudo mesaflash --device 5I25 --fix-boot-block --write Fallback.bit - start at address 0 stuck on erase

I think I may have not used the right combination

Can you please clarify which command I should issue to get rewrite the bootloader?
I tied with eemprom jumpered off and on.

I would think

sudo mesaflash --device 6I25 --recover --write fallback.bit

followed by a power cycle
should get the card accessible again (with 33 Mhz PCI clock)

Hi PCW,

I just tried it again and it doesn’t work.
It goes through the steps, but the card still shows no firmware installed.

Please see the attached screenshots for reference.

And that's with the distributed fallback.bit and the 6I25 jumped for 33 MHz?

The fallback, bit from the latest 5I25 zip file from Mesanet.
33MHz jumper-ed to 33MHz and W5 EEPROM off and on.

powered off the machine an pulled the card and put it back inn to reboot.

the card is Lot14560L1.
