I would update to the latest mesaflash (3.4.3), reflash the new 7I92s and try again

How can I see if this is correct when 7i92 is not connected to 7i77? or means setting from the Pncconf wizard

I would just comment out all the lines in hal with "7i77"
then you can launch linuxcnc and check the encoders
