hahhaaa you know that's it! I don't remember when, but that's exactly how it was, like many other things from childhood that are pointless, but missing..
I'm as happy as a child with this wheels playing:))

Last night i made the tool changer on the Mazak work, MPG works, and figured out all the sensors from the tool changer, so i went home very happy.
I was worried that will give me trouble...

we are all night birds, it works best when no one is around;) that's very fucked up, especially since you don't have a wiring manual...that quality of machine is no longer made, and it's even more satisfying when it comes to life. btw, regarding rats, i found cables made almost from old machines in the US ,all with a thick layer of
twisted wire..maybe and chemical protected.. I also have rats, but they didn't dare to break their teeth here:))

quick sanity check, first time looking at the 7i96s, if an MPG is connected to IN1,2 and is a 5v mpg, do the remaining inputs need to be 5v also or can they be 24v? ie is mixing voltages ok here?MPG1-A 7I96S IN0
MPG1-B 7I96S IN1
MPG2-A 7I96S IN2
MPG2-B 7I96S IN3
GND 7I96 IN COMMON
This does mean the other 7I96S inputs are sinking inputs
(pull high to activate)

As long as input-common is GND you can mix input voltages.

having a heck of a time figuring this out, have the axis select working and the increments select working and showing in halshow but cannot get the counts to move. wired as shown in the example what did i miss? is there a setting for the 7i96s? jumpers? didn't see anything for mpg in the manual for it, only for the encoder input for spindle. anyone have a suggestion? mpg.hal pastebin below:

Yes, the only thing different is the source pin of the counts

I have TB3 input common as ground to the 24v power supply and inputs are 24v+ to the individual input temrinals, the mpg is pulling 5v+ power and ground from TB1-1 & 6. so ground should be common for mpg and normal inputs. still not working, must be something in my hal?
