Look at the picture on page 5 of the manual. W1 is jumper 1.

I removed the 5vdc PSU and mounted the ginormous 70A motor starter. Also configured 2 sets of contacts. It looks so disjointed because there was only about 14 inches of 35mm din rail and then the contact rails were another size, then the ones in the lathe were another size. I have some din rail coming but likely the components wont all line up anyway and Ill cut individual mounts. I have also received the BEI encoders I ordered, (got 2 different ones to see which will work better) Ill have to make a shaft adapter this weekend rather than buy a different pulley.

power wiring simplified a little more. the 24vdc psu has 2 sets of output terminals which is all i need so the extra terminal blocks go away

I was doing more detail layout of the Automation Direct VFD and have hit a snag. The 5hp version of this drive is 3ph input only. Does anyone have experience with the Huanyang inverters on Ebay? Looks like the 5hp and the 10hp versions allow 1ph input. The ebay advert shows quite a few beig sold, just wondering if anyone has experience. Should I go with the 5hp or up it to 10hp to get less stress on the VFD?

You can see if the AD drive works on single phase. It might well do. You should probably de-rate somewhat, but to be honest you are unlikely to hit 5hp during normal turning activities.

I have the 5hp HY VFD on my lathe, and it seems to work nicely, and was very easy to configure with (It's own special variant of) Modbus and a USB to Modbus dongle using the LinuxCNC hy_vfd component.
