Thanks Rick, I'll do that when I get home. I guess I'm doing things backwards. Thought I'd just set-up in prototype first before hooking up to my sherline lathe. I guess what I'm saying I just want to jogg the motors left and right before hooking up, kind of a fail safe. Don't want to bang up my lathe..... What are the files I need to attach?

the files should be located in /linuxcnc/configs/yourconfigname/ and 2 files ending in yourconfigname.hal & ini
don't worry all will become clear ...

in your ini file change these

as at the moment you are not attaching anything so this is not too critical , but will be calibrated to
the number of steps needed to move one revolution of the stepper , as a stepper moves 1.8 deg per step one rev is 200
you don't say what your stepper drivers are set to i''m presuming by default I think they are half step (x2) so 200 x2 = 400

SCALE = 25600.0 so for now make this 400 as per above

DEFAULT_VELOCITY = 0.10 change to 5.0
MAX_VELOCITY = 0.950012160156 to 3.0
that should get you somewhere in the ballpark ...
and be able to play with the figures a bit . most of these can be set up in stepconf , but beware once you use stepconf some settings will default back

OMG after 3 days of madness finally! If you get Keiling KL4030 micro steppers driver on the x,y axis of the stepconf wizard you need to check mark invert. However I'm still getting the Unexpected realtime delay on task 1 error but they are moving as they are suppose to.

Apparently my computer has something LinuxCNC don't like :( . Does anyone own this www.robotshop.com/roboard-ncbox-189-cnc-...ne-controller-2.html. Not a bad price, just would like to see a review.

Back to the latency test, run for extended time and lets us know what it is.
You need to get a decent number and you can use that in Stepconfig to set the max speed your motors can run.

Ok these are the numbers. I don't understand how to use them. Or I should say come up with the figure to type in the box.
