if they have done a certain amount of changes to the whole code in general than they can do what they wont they did it.

they have there own programmers who did it, with linuxCNC knowing about what they did and they did give over a chuck of what they changed what was part of the gpl its the same as arduino there is only a part you have to give over if I rember its the base code that has to be given over if they made changes to other parts or completely re did some parts from ground up that`s there`s that is what they have done the patient on
pathpilot what is there version of linuxCNC 2.7 whats not the same as pathpilot.

also there have been people going to see them about it the answers cant be said yet because they may give over most of what they changed its all been done through laws so I would say they know what they are doing. :)
