Linux Cnc is failing to start for me. I'm not sure why this module is missing or what it does?
I'm running Ubuntu Precise with Linux Cnc 2.7.3 connected to Mesa 7i76e. Attached is the file with
error messages. Need some help. Thanks in advance

Did you check for missing build dependencies with:

dpkg-checkbuilddeps

I'm assuming you did some kind of build it yourself to get it on precise?

No i didn't, but I started out with the prepackaged debian-wheezy version and got the same error.
After that I just figured if I'm going to have problems I might as well just go back to the OS i like.
I didn't do anything special for the build I just followed the instructions here.

./my_LinuxCNC_machine.hal:8: Can't find module 'hm2_eth' in /usr/realtime-3.4-9-rtai-686-pae/modules/linuxcnc

hm2_eth works for uspace (not rtai)

You didn't post your config files so it is unknown why your configuration attempts to loadrt hm2_eth

for hm2_eth, pncconf creates a configuration that will likely work on uspace but not on rtai.

If you want to use hm2_eth, you will need to install a rt-preempt kernel.

hm2_eth is only available when linuxcnc is configured with "uspace" realtime.

Sucess!! I reinstalled Debian 7 wheezy with the rt-preempt kernel and ran the setname program referenced below. Then she took off.

Thanks Everyone, and Merry Christmas!
