Wow, you guys are great. I haven't made the change yet but I will, just having fun cutting some threads and trying to figure the programming out. Seems since there is only one impulse that LinuxCNC needs to see the program in a certain way. I basically took the sample program and manipulated it to cut inch threads.after I saw that it worked.
The help I got here saved me from purchasing something that I didn't need and I am glad you guys stuck with me, I was ready to give up.
Once again I want to thank all of you for the help.

Been busy and finally got back to the linuxcnc and the threading.
I addeded the "interpolated" change and it did smooth the z motion from being chunky. My next step is the add a real encoder.
