Hi Folks,

I was hoping someone here might help me with a product question and possibly a program question.

Program question first:
I have been running my machine for years now and been puzzled by the following.
I have my tools in the tool table, I measure them as the manual describes, I have always had to re-set the material height when I change tools, I thought the idea was to have the table and set the height on the material so you could fore go repeatedly setting the material height.
I probable have something set incorrectly in my congif but never took the time to ask what or why.
Now seemed as good a time as any.
I'll attach a copy of my latest ini (I think it's current) if it helps.

Product question:
I am running steppers on my gantry, they have a .375 spindle, when I run at speeds I can make a living at the motor couplers slip, and naturally the product isn’t something I can make a living selling.
Is there a motor coupler that will clamp and hold really well out there?

Thanks in advance.

Can you go through the sequence of steps you take when changing tools?
And when changing material thickness?

Thanks for responding Andy,

I measure the tools for a given project to confirm the table is accurate (load the tool in machine, load the MDI for each tool one at a time, touch off the fixture and click "Tool touch off" ), I load my first tool (usually a clearing tool) then position it on the material and do a "Z touch off".
When the program pauses for the next tool I load it.
At this time I have to re-set the material height or it uses the previous tool length.
Bad things happen if the next tool is longer that the previous one as you can imagine.

Thanks again, Allen

Is your GUI set for "fixture touch off"?
Are you using G43

Yes I'm using G43, the "H" value is in the code and shows the proper tool number.

Fixture touch off:
I go to menu and click Machine-> Tool touch off to fixture-> (position the tool over fixture)-> Tool touch off (the button on the GUI interface).

I'm not sure if that means the "GUI is set for fixture touch off" or not.
Am I missing something here?

The entry in the "Machine" menu is a sticky setting. You shouldn't need to change it every time.

I am not sure what is going on, to be honest. It works for me, but I don't "touch off to fixture"

What do you do instead of touching a fixture??

I was planning to set-up a "Touch off plate" soon, would that change things or help?
(Or not) lol

I have a measuring station on the table and use a height gauge to enter the lengths.

If you don't currently have a touch-off plate, what actually is your "fixture"?
