Just to clarify in the gcode you uploaded I see:
#2 = #<_ hal [pyvcp.diviseur]>
not
#2 = #<_hal[pyvcp.diviseur]>

Sometimes the browser adds an encoding error to text when you cut and paste.

I think that the G-code test is the way to go.
G-code access to HAL pins is slightly unreliable if the value changes after the G-code starts to run.

I probably wouldn't send an error message for [divisions LE 0], I think I would just default to 6 or some other sensible number.
