Fanless PC with Linux CNC RT preempt? was created by dannym
Been running on an ancient Dell that has low latency. Upgrading to a fanless that is readily available sounds great.
I did see some mention that Debian RT-preempt may not be available for some of these.
Is there any truth there? Good to sort this out before spending $300 on the wrong hardware.

I got one (it's a J1900 IIRC) and have been running the latest LinuxCNC/Debian ISO and converted our makerspace machine with a Mesa 7i92 from an old Dell PC to this.
It's been running for a couple of weeks. I did get a report that it "froze" on someone. Troubling because I get the impression that for everything I do hear about, there's another 5x I didn't hear about.
Today I got a specific report that it did this mid-job:
"Unexpected realtime delay on task 0 with period 1000000
This message will only display once per session. Run the latency test and resolve before continuing. "
I had run a latency test early on and the max latency/jitter wasn't terrible, esp since it's got a 7i92 FPGA card so it really would have to go a long time for latency to be an issue
Any idea what would cause this?
