On many OS's apt-get is a wrapper for apt and the two commands are interchangeable. Dunno what OS the OP is using as he never answered my question. If you type apt in a terminal it will show the usage if installed or type in man apt to get the man page.

sudo apt-get install geany ?
It is the best editor out there

That works in all Debian/Ubuntu distros, as JT mentioned. It saves a little time while typing.
sudo apt install geany

I am using debian wheezy and i cant find appropriate repos cant even install Firefox from my current repo
