Ethercat works for 32 and 64 bit, just for info.

It's important you play a bit in the Etherlab source code. There is one example provided (included) that is basic enough to investegate.

I have a question. Is your system 32 or 64 bit? You can read a bit about .ko and .so kernel modules.
32 bit uses .ko modules. 64 bit uses .so modules.

The installation of 32 bit is quite easy to do. The 64 bit installation is more difficult.

What kind of ethercat slave do you have? Is it a Beckhoff?
