You could run with a Pi or Beaglebone as the machine controller.
But it's probably simpler just to use a passively cooled low power x86 motherboard.
I just put the motherboard in the box with the other electronics.

Sorry for slow reply but could a embedded solution like this work?

Also as a side note has anyone ever attempted to make a tool and die grinder powered by linuxcnc? I immediately aside from the machine it self, see a issue with axis support for 5 or 6 axis. (I am a hobbiest, kinda just want to mess with grinding my own insert mill tooling.)

The only drawback I see is that it needs a PC PSU rather than a single 12V supply.

That isn't really an embedded solution as such, it's a conventional PC motherboard. As such it will work fine.Sorry for slow reply but could a embedded solution like this work?

LinuxCNC supports 9 axes for coordinated motion, and up to (I think) 32 more for independent motion .Also as a side note has anyone ever attempted to make a tool and die grinder powered by linuxcnc? I immediately aside from the machine it self, see a issue with axis support for 5 or 6 axis.

Thank you, that's all my questions for the time being. Time to start gathering material for the build now.
