I think what the linux devs really need to do is implement a scheme where update and security fixes break everything, then our Windows friends may feel better.

LinuxCNC is currently available on Stretch:
www.linuxcnc.org/downloads/
And the buildbot is building on Buster (but currently only with the preempt-rt kernel, no RTAI Buster builds on the buildbot yet)

Is it really so difficult to port EMC2 into LTE's Debian branch? Are there any objective barriers?
