HI Guys

Im very new to linux CNC i just converted one of my milling machines with steppers and linux CNC :)

but i'm having a problem the backlash its not working.
I can see the correction value in the HAL meter but the stepper motor is not responding to the backlash

I have attached the HAL and INI files

Maybe this [AXIS_1]
TYPE = LINEAR
HOME = -0.0
FERROR = 10.0
MIN_FERROR = 1.0
MAX_VELOCITY = 50
MAX_ACCELERATION = 70
# The values below should be 25% larger than MAX_VELOCITY and MAX_ACCELERATION
# If using BACKLASH compensation STEPGEN_MAXACCEL should be 100% larger.
STEPGEN_MAXVEL = 70
STEPGEN_MAXACCEL = 110

The docs say 1.5 to 2.0 times.

But there is a good chance I've not it right

How are you checking for backlash ?

Is that right for FERROR ?

so i'm moving the machine 2mm positive and 1mm negative and its leaving a difference

it seems like the stepper is not moving at all to compensate for the backlash

Before you are moving positive 2mm have you moved forward before that to take up any existing backlash in the positive direction ?
