thanks for the help! I've found the requested files,found both in franks_cnc_file_ manager. Both are plain text files. now the question is how to copy them to a stick.
I plugged in a 8GB stick nothing happened. and second can the files on the stick be sent to the forum page?


You can copy and paste the files to a stick (right click with the mouse and you will see "copy" or use Ctrl +C on the keyboard and the Ctrl +V to paste)

Then at the bottom of your reply you should see the attachment button click on that.

There should be more than 2 files, and they are all text files with different extensions.

I figured out how to upload my .ini and .hal files, they should be attached now. Currently when I try and run LinuxCNC it tries to load then crashes. Remember I do not have a digital interface to the VFD (9600 baud) instead I have an analog input 0-5v from the 5i25 to my spindle drive.

FWIW, The physical card in my computer is a 6i25 card with no changes i.e. jumpers. It's my understanding that it is completely 5i25 compatible in this state)

Below is the output I get when the application terminates. (Note, If it makes a difference, I am running the application right now with nothing connected to the card in the computer)

Somewhere in your setup you are trying to make a connection to the vfd via a serial connection, Linuxcnc can't open the port and that is why it is shutting down.
Which would point to the permissions on the device file not allowing you access to it.

I searched the the config files and found this in a file called mitsub_vfd.hal

I am going to try removing it from the directory and then launch the application to see what happens.

I removed the mitsub_vfd.hal file from the config directory and tried re-opening LinuxCNC. It still crashes but no longer with the same error. I have attached the crash output as a file this time.

Ok that file is still referenced in your ini file.
Removing the file does not remove it from the config, any reference has to be removed inside your ini file or wherever it is referenced.

I found the string mitsub_vfd.hal referenced in this file postgui_call_list.hal and I commented it out. Now when I run the LinuxCNC program it opens successfully. That's a great accomplishment in itself. Thanks!
