Would I do better with 100 pulse slotted encoder

Many thanks for the feedbackYeah, I would say up to 250 RPM or so would be a good speed with some safety margin.

A 100 PPR encoder should be able to work reliably to 500 RPM or so with a 10 KHz base
thread. At some point, lowering resolution will result in jerkier Z motion, though this can be
compensated for to some extent by using the interpolated position output of the encoder
component.

Ok I have changed to simple slotted optos with a 100 slot disc.
Should the encoder.0.position-scale be 100 or 400. 400 seems to give the correct speed commanded but it does jump around.
i.e. does the encoder need to be in a different mode
Disclosure the 100 slot disc is slightly oval but I am getting another as the laser in was done on needs calibrating.
